    Hi Andrew,

Max looks really intriguing. What would you say are the practical applications of such a program with regards to sound design?
I would love to find out more

It’s only 10,5 hours from London… you have plenty of time.

In the UK, there are a ton of these kind things, so I’m sure you can find great beginner Max/MSP workshops. In South Africa, there’s not much of this kind of stuff, which is why I’m doing it.

    Hey Rob,

Max is awesome! You’re free to create anything you can dream of. You can connect anything with anything… But best of all, when building something from (sort of) scratch, you get to understand how it works. It can be quite a steep learning curve, but it’s so worth it.

Unfortunately, that’s Birmingham, AL, USA. We have no such thing as Max/MSP workshops. We have the program on the computers at school, but nobody is trained to use it and it seems to be a steep learning curve if you’re completely new to this sort of thing.

for those with no access to courses or no access to the money necessary to
get Max/Msp the following might be interesting.

Very well done tutorial, also available as a book, using the free and open source pure data,
which is very similar to Max/Msp. The tutorial is free in html form.

    Another option is

    Pd is freely available on

    Hope this might help someone.
